Can Fat Be Your Friend?


Many people have difficulties understanding the concept of fat and whether it is good for you or not. Unfortunately, this is one of those things that does not have one clear, all-encompassing answer. It is the same as the situation with carbs, another highly confusing area of the diet.The problem seems to be that there is bad fat that is bad for you no matter what. It will make you fat and increase your chances of developing heart disease, high blood pressure and cancer.

On the other side of the table though, is that fat is something that your body needs to survive.

Some fats supply essential fatty acids such as linolenic acids which are needed for the metabolizing cholesterol, producing prostaglandin and fort the absorption of fat soluble vitamins such as A, D, E and arytenoids. Fat cells are stored in the body and provide insulation, store energy, and provide cushioning for organs. Many new reports are now saying that there was not really enough evidence in previous reports to make the general statements that were previously made such as that fats cause cancer.
