Follow a Plant Based Diet to Control Diabetes

Healthy FoodsIf you want to control your diabetes, one of the best ways to do that is to stay with a plant based diet. It’s lower in saturated fats and other items that aren’t actually that good for you. It can also help you to lose weight, which is something that many diabetes need to do.

A lot of people with diabetes struggle with their weight, and if they are able to get it down, their diabetes is often more under control. This can help them live longer and better lives. One of the most common plant based diets is the Mediterranean diet, which has been gaining in popularity. People who follow that diet have very low disease rates and they are generally healthier than those who eat a more Western diet. They also have a healthier lifestyle overall and their longevity numbers are very high.

Following a plant based diet also doesn’t mean that you have to be a vegetarian. It only means that most of what you eat should come from plants and you should eat meat more as a side dish or an occasional option.

    Great post! I’m a big proponent of both the raw foods diet and the mediterranean diet. I’ve witnessed great success in diabetics on these diets (obviously with the high intake of plant based foods) and am so glad you mentioned that to go on a diet high in plant based foods doesn’t mean you have to go completely vegetarian!
